For You, A Thousand Times Over

No.
I do not relish the sound of those drums.
They hurt my ear, I prefer gentle strums.
But holding your hand,
I’ll learn to like this band,
If it is loudness which you prefer
For you, my dear, a thousand times over.

Yes.
I like raindrops tickling my nose
You dread the downpour, the chilly wind which blows,
I want go out and dance with you
Reluctance in your eyes gives me cue
I close the door, shut out the drizzles,
For you, my dear, a thousand times over.

No.
Cold is not my greatest friend
But your home is a snow covered land
I’ve been nourished under the scorching sun
When you went out, you came back burnt
I’m not sure how, but I will brave the winter
For you, my dear, a thousand times over.

Yes.
You love me as much as I love you
Here’s bliss aplenty, and pains very few
You’ve held my hand in every strife
And said, “Loving you is a way of life”
Not once, but from when I can remember,
Your voice has assured, always, forever,
“For you, my sweetheart, a thousand times over.”

    1. Arre wah! It is such a pleasant surprise to see you here, dear friend, with your cryptic signature that too.

Since you are a critic whose words I take very seriously, I shall take your praise very seriously as well, and secretly feel proud for writing something you appreciate. Its always nice to know you are reading and appreciating the stuff I write. Keep dropping by :)

  4. An instant favourite. The title reminds me of a book I read a long time back. ('The Kite Runner', perhaps)

The poem sort of simplifies the whole idea of loving someone, encompassing numerous aspects into such relatable and common events. And that is the beauty of this piece. I loved it. Keep it up! :)

    1. Yes! The title is inspired from The Kite Runner, but taken to a different zone of thoughts and emotions. My life, I reckon, begins and ends at love. I am glad you liked this piece, its very close to my heart.

  7. I don't know what kinduva comment I'd make, as I'd been contemplating so hard on 'how to muster up words after being bankrupt with a poem', since the first day I visited your blog: the 10th of November.

'For you a thousand times over'
Ahh! What an awesome poem that, I'd been obsessed with nothing but this lately!
Inspite of the bankruptcy force- majeure, I somehow wanted to let you know 'the thing' since not all readers have their oppotunities to thank writers.

Indeed the poem gave a completely new perspective of 'love' to me...
I'd always hated someone say, "But, I love you.
Your post made me reconsider my strongheld notion, "These 'but, I love you' couples don't make a good pair".

Honestly, I really don't have words to express the delicacy of your poem and it's impact on me!

PS: I'd be really grateful to you if you'd trust me: "No exaggeration all thru the comment, not even a micro fragment of it". Perhaps there are understatements.

    1. You made my day! Undoubtedly! I have never had someone with such a high opinion of my poetry - so I must caution you. This is one of the spontaneous pieces, put up in a jiffy. I think I can do better :)
