Risks and Passions

Skirting the truth, I skipped around the beach
Water’s dangerous”, chirped many a noisy beaks,
‘Tis cold and deep and dangerous and unkind,
Stay away, little girl, oh you juvenile mind!”

The endless skies were my heart’s delight!
“Soaring too high, beware of the Sun’s might.”
“Bask if you want, but from a distance.”
Here I stood dejected, at the edge of a rigid fence.

The glory of night, was only despised,
Warned, I drew away, scared of horror-filled cries
"The home of haunted", did have a mystic touch
The dark was hailed as abode of forbidden lust.

Tempted to step over, needing that one prod
Mired in wonder, did I actually need a nod?
He had to come, and come he did,
Filling me with beauty, dispelling all myths.

He came bathed in the crystal ocean,
Luminous, with softness of rising sun
Descending from a beaming unicorn,
Whom glittery jewels of the night adorned.

We allowed the waves to caress our feet,
His hand reached out, to steady my wobbly gait,
The water was warm, not a prickly cold,
Danger stood afar, my heart was in his hold.

The balmy sun sent out its love,
I and he basked in its mirth.
Together we rode on the stream of air,
Plummeting down? No longer a fear!

Night came again with its horrors and charms,
Nervous and cold I stood in his arms,
The cries I heard were of my own ecstasy,
In pleasure and passion now lay my dark fancy.

They all say love comes with its risks. They further color it with forbidden hues. But each of you who has experienced it knows the joy which only true, rich, passionate and intense love can give you. Throw the stereotypes in the ocean. Go out, immerse yourself in love and feel it to the fullest. A morning walk on the shore, hand in hand, talking of  nothing in particular and yet conveying a lot is the perfect start to a lover's day. A night, filled with emotions shy of daylight; the dark giving cover to two souls trying to become one is the perfect end to a day spent loving and living. And as John Donne puts it, when you wake up the next day in your lover's arms, when it is The Good Morrow, you will find your entire world having come alive in that one little room you share with your beloved.

Don't be shy. Love is all there is.

  2. i liked the flow with which u wrote, the ending particularly. I always feel there's something u want to express through ur words,i mean for a moment it seems u wanna explore the wild side of love and den suddenly u limit urslf to the conventional form. Interesting i would say!;)

    1. Ahaan. That is an interesting assessment of mine, and I would admit, it is quite right. Amid this debate of internet censorship, one has to keep a tab on the amount of emotions he/she allows the publishing of on a public domain.

PS- There are people I wish did not read my blog. But they do. Sigh.

    2. I couldn't agree more with you on the internet censorship issue.

      Why so?

  4. Dear Saumya,
I guess people are still shy, hence the fewer or probably slower responses.

Risks and Passions – a very promising title, and I should add the poem did follow from risk to passion. Good job. It is very evidently a work of passion. It reflects experience too.

However, if it were not a work of passion, if it were a piece of literature – well it isn’t so I shall not comment on that basis :D

One more thing – “Throw the stereotypes in the ocean.” And then you say “… A morning walk on the shore, hand in hand, talking of nothing in particular and yet conveying a lot is the perfect start to a lover's day.” – Well, I agree love is a very contradicting feeling at times; Let’s just say you seem to have captured it in all its essence ;)

P.S – Remind me to make a remark about this entire post, and an option of alternative profession for you when we talk or meet in person.

    Sincerely
    With lots of love :P

    1. Ahaan. So there is another reviewer, besides me, on Nascent Emissions, for what you've written is not merely a feedback, but a whole review on my post. You have no idea how much I appreciate it, especially given the fact that no negative criticism has been unleashed on me.

Responses are erratic. They encourage a blogger, but some years into blogging, and you understand how to put all this behind you. I am glad, though, for the few comments I did receive. Your's being one, I thank you from my heart.

Alternate profession? That sounds interesting. Will be talking about it to you soon!

Keep visiting my blog. I think your words make it feel special. My blog is like a living entity for me, shall I call it 'her'?

      Anyway!
Much love, genuine love, without the ':P' emoticon.

  5. Hi!! Saumya!!! As usual its again nice blog that too on my topic love ... i love it. I must say that the balladry is really captivating & exotic... from where you trace it?? Never mind here are my perceptions about love... "Don't be shy. Love is all there is." this is good one ..well my thoughts on love.Love is not an emotion, it is your very existence.
Here are the signs of love. When you love someone, you see nothing wrong with them. When you love someone, you want to see them always happy and you want them to have the best.Love is the highest strength, yet it makes you absolutely weak. Love cannot tolerate distance, and hatred cannot tolerate nearness. You can experience love, but you cannot describe it or express it totally.Love is beyond sight, touch, smell, taste, and sound.
.When there is Love, there is no ego; ego dissolves like the dew drops with the sun.In the company of one who is living Love, you also cant but spring into that Love.Love is that phenomenon of dissolving, disappearing, merging, becoming one with.Love is that phenomenon of total letting go.
The seers, the seen, and the process of seeing all merge. The knowledge, the knower, and the known, they all merge, become one & that is Divine Love...
well now ample of thoughts on love... i hope you like this saumya..& thanks for sharing this blog...keep writing keep enjoying..& please keep teaching me new stuffs like this...thank you didi..!! yours lovely brother anant jain..:)

  6. Saumya, you touch many shades of love in all your poems - warmth, passion, complaints, appreciation. Its like a holistic view, that is the reason I love your poems so much. Keep writing.
